This project involved the design and preparation of a Building Regulations drawing package for a garage conversion in Manchester .
The scheme focused on transforming an underutilised garage into a functional internal living space, to improve the overall layout and usability of the home. The proposal introduced a new open-plan arrangement incorporating a kitchen, living area, bedroom, and bathroom, creating a more efficient and modern living environment.
The scope of work included:
* Existing and proposed plans, elevations, and roof layouts
* Section drawings illustrating construction build-up and levels
* Detailed construction drawings including wall, floor, and roof junctions
* Thermal and insulation strategy in line with Part L requirements
* Drainage and plumbing coordination
* Ventilation and fire safety compliance
* Comprehensive Building Regulations notes and specifications
Particular attention was given to construction detailing, including foundation design, wall build-ups, and junctions between new and existing elements, ensuring compliance with UK Building Regulations and practical buildability on site.
The result is a clear and coordinated technical drawing package suitable for Building Control approval and construction, supporting the successful delivery of a high-quality conversion project.
